Entitled, “Making the Case for MSD Prevention”, the Workers Health & Safety Centre (WHSC) offers a series of fact sheets to help workplace reps effectively build support for MSD prevention. An Economics of Ergonomics fact sheet provides evidence-based support for ergonomic interventions. Three workplace-specific case studies document successful MSD prevention efforts and demonstrate the importance of worker involvement, researching and assessing hazards, making effective recommendations and pressing for solutions.

Other resources developed by the former Occupational Health & Safety Council of Ontario (OHSCO), also provide valuable guidance and information to workplaces seeking to prevent musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). They cover related issues such as:
Early symptoms and warning signs
Examples of MSDs
Risk factors at work
Ergonomic design principles
Sample policy and procedures.
NOTE: Among other ergonomic training programs, the Workers Health & Safety Centre has developed two popular training programs based on these important resources. Once through the programs, workers, supervisors and workplace representatives will be better able to participate in the work necessary to develop and implement effective MSD prevention programs in their workplace.
