Complete GHS WHMIS training virtually! New dates available

Worker getting WHMIS training in a WHSC virtual classroom
As workplaces re-open they must fully comply with safety laws and public health directives to ensure reasonable precautions are in place to protect workers against COVID-19.

Quality GHS WHMIS training is more critical than ever as workplace protocols now involve the routine use of cleaning and disinfecting chemicals to keep workplaces free of potential COVID-19 exposures.

Workers Health & Safety Centre (WHSC) GHS WHMIS virtual training fills this important need. We have added new dates to our training schedule to ensure workers and workplace representatives have ongoing access to trusted training during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since gathering in traditional classrooms is impossible right now WHSC is committed to expanding access for workers to our recently-launched virtual classroom.

Virtual classroom, ensured learning

WHSC is delivering legally mandated Globally Harmonized (GHS) WHMIS training via live (real-time), two-hour, virtual training sessions for just $10. Participants will gain an understanding of WHMIS hazard class pictograms and standardized information on product labels and safety data sheets (SDSs) to ensure the safe use, storage and disposal of cleaning, disinfecting and other workplace hazardous products.

Like all our training, this virtual program will be led by experienced instructors. Sessions will be highly interactive, applying adult education principles to ensure learning is engaging, relevant and achieved. This distinguishes our program from other WHMIS initiatives, which are not training at all, but merely online information. Employers must consider this when selecting a training partner and delivery model. After all, Ontario law requires that WHMIS training results in workers being able to use the information to protect their health and safety [s. 7(3), WHMIS Reg.].
